Ellen DeGeneres (1958-Present)
Ellen is a stand-up comedian and a television host. When Ellen was younger she did a little acting here and there, but really blossomed after she went on The Oprah Winfrey Show. It was on Oprah’s show that Ellen DeGeneres revealed that she was a lesbian on national television. Since then she has married her wife, Portia de Rossi, become an avid spokesperson for The Human Rights Coming Out Project, and developed her own television show, ellen.

Jason Collins (1978-Present)
Jason is a profession basketball player who last played for the Washington Wizards as a center. Jason played for several different NBA teams including the New Jersey Nets, Memphis Grizzlies, Minnesota Timberwolves, Atlanta Hawks, Boston Celtics, and finishing it up with the Washington Wizards. Aside from Jason Collins and his professional career, he was also the first male profession athlete in a North American team sport to come out gay publicly. After Collins openly stated he was gay, he received a lot of support from people in his profession such as Kobe Bryant, as well as support from President Barack Obama, and many others. However, Collins was attacked by an ESPN analyst, Chris Broussard, who questioned how he could be gay, but yet a Christian.

Tammy Baldwin is an United States Senator for Wisconsin, and was the first women elected to represent Wisconsin in the Senate position. Tammy has been in the political world ever since 1992, serving on the Democratic side. She is also an activist for Women’s Rights, and is especially involved in the Violence Against Women Act. Tammy is also the first openly gay United States Senator who is openly a lesbian. Tammy wanted to make it well known that she was running for Senate to make a difference, not to make history. Baldwin is just doing that, making a change, but also making history both in good ways.

Anderson Cooper is a very successful journalist, an anchor for CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360, as well as a host for his own television show Anderson. Anderson has said that he has always known he was gay, but didn’t come out until 2012. He has always tried to keep his life personal as you can tell through his television show Anderson, as well as all the interviews he’s been through. However, he wanted to come out openly because, I quote, “It’s become clear to me that by remaining silent on certain aspects of my personal life for so long, I have given some the mistaken impression that I am trying to hide something, something that makes me uncomfortable, ashamed or even afraid. This is distressing because it is simply not true. The fact is, I'm gay, always have been, always will be, and I couldn’t be any more happy, comfortable with myself, and proud.” Unquote.

Besides Rosie’s career, she is also a big advocate for the LGBT committee, as well as being a huge part of R Family Vacations. R Family Vacations is a LGBT vacation cruise for people of the same-sex marriage. Rosie is very open about being gay. She is currently married to Michelle Rounds, and the two of them have a daughter together. Rosie also have four other children with her ex-wife, making Rosie a mother of five!

He has wrote songs for many famous artists, then within the past couple of years, Ocean has made his own music for himself. Aside from being a successful artist, Frank Ocean is one of the first major African American artists to announce that he is gay. On a social media website, Tumblr, Frank expressed how he felt about men when he was a teenager, but didn’t have the courage to express his feelings. Since then Frank Ocean has received much support from other celebrities and his fans making Ocean feel supported and more confident.

Martin had a fourteen year on-again-off-again relationship with a Mexican model, however they decided to part ways. After that, Martin became a father to two twin boys in 2008. The twins were birthed by a surrogate mother. Upon all of this, Ricky Martin was being asked what his sexual orientation was. He felt that he didn't need to tell anyone because he felt they didn't need to know. However, in 2010, Ricky Martin announced on his website that he is gay and proud of it. I quote: "I am proud to say that I am a fortunate homosexual man. I am very blessed to be who I am." Unquote. Since then Ricky has received a lot of support from his close friend, and in 2011 he started dating his boyfriend Carlos González Abella and they are still together to this day.
