Bracelet Key:

Procedure:
- Introduce the theme of families.
- Hand out “This is Me” page to the students.
- Explain to the students that they should answer the questions based on their personal lives and families.
- Each student will fill out the “This is Me” sheet and draw a picture of themselves.
- Go over instructions for the bracelet making.
- Hand out the bracelet key to the students.
- Hand out various beads and the pipe cleaners to the students.
- The students will get the correct color and shape beads based on their answers to the questions.
- Students will construct their bracelet based on their answers from their “This is Me” page and the bracelet key.
- As students are constructing their bracelet, review information that is on their “This is Me” sheet that they will then be using to construct their bracelet (gender, color of hair, sisters, brothers, initials, 2 favorite colors, I like to play games/I like to sing), and have students refer to their individual “This is Me” sheet.
- The questions that are answered correlate with the color and shape of beads, as shown in the bracelet key.
- Students will pair and share bracelet information.
Assessment:
- Students will be able to complete a series of questions about their personal self.
- Students will be able to make connections between their personal self and family lives and constructing the bracelet.
- Students will be able to participate in conversation with others.
Differentiation:
- Have pictures on the bracelet key for students who are visual learners.
- Have students work one-on-one with teacher or with partners for students who are interpersonal learners.
- Have students move around and find other students with similar bead colors for kinesthetic learners.
